BERLIN - Solidarity Conference with Cuba Rosa Luxemburg Prize to Aleida Guevara in Berlin (April 11)

Amid an intensifying U.S. blockade—including an oil embargo and open threats of military intervention—Cuba is facing an acute crisis and is in urgent need of international solidarity.

In response, the Berlin-based daily junge Welt will host a
Solidarity Conference with Cuba and the Peoples of Latin America
on Saturday, April 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
at Kino Babylon (Rosa-Luxemburg-Str. 30, 10178 Berlin).

Speakers and participants include Cuban journalist Liz Oliva Fernández, Venezuelan journalist Julieta Daza, Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet, Enrique Ubieta (director of Revolución y Cultura, Cuba), Franco Cavalli (MediCuba, Switzerland), and Fanny Michaela Reisin (Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East).
The discussion will address the current situation in Cuba and Latin America in the context of escalating U.S. policy.

Following the conference, at 4:30 p.m., the Rosa Luxemburg Prize will be awarded to Cuban physician and internationalist Aleida Guevara.
She is being honored for her longstanding commitment to international solidarity and her defense of the values of the Cuban Revolution. Guevara will accept the award on behalf of the Cuban people, who have resisted the U.S. blockade for decades.

The Rosa Luxemburg Prize, awarded by junge Welt and the magazine Melodie & Rhythmus, recognizes progressive figures for their internationalist, anti-militarist, and socially engaged work.

The event will be simultaneously translated into German and Spanish.

A press conference with international guests, including Aleida Guevara, Ignacio Ramonet, and Enrique Ubieta, will take place on Friday, April 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the jW maigalerie (Torstraße 6, Berlin).

Media representatives may request accreditation and interview slots in advance by April 8, 6:00 p.m. via:
